Application process
You’ve sent off the application form, so what happens next?… Acknowledgement of Application. Sorry, but to keep costs down, we can only acknowledge your application if you include a stamped-addressed envelope.
… Personal details. To help achieve equal opportunities, your personal details will be detached before being passed onto whoever is responsible for shortlisting applicants.

… Recruiting people with disabilities. All applicants who have a disability who meet the essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview.

… Called for interview? We’ll let you know within 4 weeks of the closing date if you’re needed for an interview. If you haven’t heard from us within this time, you should assume your application was, unfortunately, unsuccessful. For interview advice click here.

… You’ll have to show original documents (no photocopies) of your qualifications. This also includes your driving licence if this is a requirement of the post.

- You’ve got the job! Congratulations. There are now just a couple of things that need to be done:
- Criminal Records Check. If the position you’ve been offered involves having access to children or vulnerable adults we, naturally, have to check your suitability with the Crime Records Bureau. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a job.
- Medical Examinations. Any offers of appointment are subject to medical clearance (sounds scarier than it is!). You may have to complete a medical questionnaire and might have to have an examination. At this stage the Occupational Health Unit is told of any reasonable adjustments needed to enable disabled applicants to fulfil their role.

… A bit of important advice. Canvassing of Elected Member of the Authority in support of your application will immediately disqualify you as an applicant.

… Prevention & detection of fraud. We have to protect the public funds we handle and we may use the information you give on your application form to prevent and detect fraud. We may also share this information with other organisations that also handle public funds.
